Banks Financing the DAPL - Divest Now!
From the coalition statement 12/8/2016 by the following organizations:
"We ask you to join us in an unprecedented divestment campaign to kill the black snake financially. ...Let us use this time to cut off funding for the project.
December is an international month of action focused on the 17 banks that are profiting off investments in the Dakota Access pipeline. Shut these banks down with direct action. Close your accounts and tell the world you’re doing it. Pressure your local jurisdictions and philanthropists to divest. Every day is a day of action.
This fight is not over, not even close. In fact, this fight is escalating. The incoming Trump administration promises to be a friend to the oil industry and an enemy to Indigenous people. It is unclear what will happen with the river crossing. Now more than ever, we ask that you stand with us as we continue to demand justice."
DeFund DAPL has a great website about defunding the pipeline:

“As a customer of [bank name] I was upset to learn that you are financially invested in the Dakota Access Pipeline, which threatens the water and livelihood of the Standing Rock Sioux and the thousands of people who live along the Missouri River. I’m calling to ask that you withdraw your financial support of and stake in the project immediately.”

Hello to all,
I am attaching copies of four letters I am sending off to Citibank, Costco Corporation, Wells Fargo Corporation, and Congressional Representative Jared Huffman. The first three relate to urging these financial organizations to divest from dirty fossil fuel companies, and the last asks Rep Huffman to follow up on his earlier actions to influence Washington to pay attention to the ongoing issues at Standing Rock.
I want to acknowledge the “ghost writer” who posted an earlier letter in an email, and whose elegant and pointed language I borrowed from. I couldn’t find the author of that earlier letter, and hope I can safely assume it was OK to use some of his/her phrasing as I invite anyone else to use anything you see in any of these letters. Feel free to pass them on to anyone interested.
