CalSTRS Investment Committee Meeting 2/3

California often leads the way for the rest of the world in social change and technological and economic trends. We have a HUGE opportunity to influence the world from here! Divestment played a key role worldwide in turning the tide against South African racial apartheid. Now divestment from fossil fuels is the fastest growing divestment movement in history.

350 Sonoma County's divestment group focuses on urging CalSTRS (the California State Teachers Retirement System) to divest its billions from fossil fuel companies.

If CalSTRS divests, it will likely influence others across the country and across the globe to divest as well. We want people to show community support at the next CalSTRS Investment Committee meeting at the CalSTRS headquarters in Sacramento. We need your help to reach out to teachers, community college instructors and students in the Sacramento area to pressure CalSTRS to divest sooner rather than later, as they are destined to do. CalSTRS is destined to divest because investing in fossil fuels is pure folly not just financially but a moral imperative to save the future of all our loved ones. The sooner we can achieve this goal, the faster we can get the rest of our country to transition to renewable energy.
